Investigators from the Office for the Prevention of Administrative Corruption raided the Dominican Football Federation offices in Santo Domingo yesterday afternoon, Wednesday 16 March 2016. All of the Federation’s employees were denied entry and the reasons for the search have not been disclosed.
The Caribbean Football Union has been mentioned among the more corrupt organizations in the International Football Federation (FIFA) as part of the investigations surrounding the forced removal of FIFA president Sepp Blatter and most of his top executives.
Osiris Guzman, who has served as the president of the Dominican Football Federation for some 20 years, has been vocal in his support for Blatter.
Guzman is currently in Zurich, Switzerland.
The investigators searched through computer equipment and files. One of Guzman’s associates, Gabriel Del Rosario, said that the raid was just part of the political persecution to which Guzman will be subjected now that he has been selected as the PRM candidate for the Senate seat in San Cristobal following the murder of former UASD rector Mateo Aquino Febrillet last week.
