BHD Fondos is first DR US$ mutual fund company

Fondos de Inversion BHD general manager Gabriel Tinero has announced the operation of what he described as the country’s first mutual fund in US$. The advantage of the investments is that BHD Fondos offers an average yield of 2%, which is half a percent more than what the other commercial banks are paying. He said in 2015, the BHD funds management company, Fondo Mutuo BHD Liquidez was the first mutual fund to operate in the country. Operating in RD$, it has captured 78% of the 1,340 funds opened, or RD$1.26 billion. “With BHD Liquidez we have democratized the access to the securities market for all Dominicans who can now invest from RD$5,000 and have their funds cashable at all times,” he said, as reported in Diario Libre.

Diario Libre reporters were not able to get a comment from the Attorney General office. They were told the prosecutors were reviewing the information.
