Teatro Nacional general manager Nini Caffaro has announced that the remodeling of the theater will not be completed in time for the Soberano Awards, the leading Dominican show business event of the year, to be held there on 3 May 2016 as scheduled. The change of the date affects performers who had booked the date. Caffaro says that the contractors have requested 10 to 20 more days. He originally said that the remodeling would be completed on 10 April 2016. Caffaro now expects the theater to be ready a week before or after the 15 May election.
