The Central Electoral Board (JCE) has formally announced the eight presidential and vice presidential candidates who will compete in the 15 May 2016 election. This year, there will be four women vice presidential candidates, including the top three leading parties according to the polls, the PLD, PRM and Alianza Pais.
The JCE-approved candidates for May 2016 are:
Partido de la Liberacion Dominicana (PLD) and Bloque Progresista: Danilo Medina and Margarita Cedeno.
Partido Revolucionario Moderno (PRM) and allies: Luis Abinader and Carolina Mejia.
Partido Revolucionario Social Democrata (PRSD): Hatuey De Camps and Rafael Gamundi.
Partido Quisqueyano Democrata Cristiano (PQDC): Elias Wessin Chavez and Francisco Javier Paulino.
Fuerza Nacional Progresista (FNP): Pelegrin Castillo and Deisy Elizabeth Sepulveda.
Partido de Unidad Nacional (PUN): Soraya Aquino and Pedro Corporan.
Partido Alianza por la Democracia: Minou Tavarez Mirabal and Mario Berges Santos
Partido Alianza Pais: Guillermo Moreno and Maria Josefina Cantisano.
