Three drownings reported

Three people have drowned in the country over the past few days. In Nagua, in the northeastern province of Maria Trinidad Sanchez, 16-year old Julio Cesar Fernandez Lopez from Cotui drowned when he and his girlfriend were on a seaside trip along with some adults.

In Cabarete, in the northern province of Puerto Plata, 63-year old US citizen Joel Alan Russell also drowned off the beach where he was staying in a condominium. He was taken to a medical center where he passed away.

Finally a body has been found in the Ozama River, in La Cienaga in the National District but has not yet been identified. The cause of death was also drowning and police are hoping to obtain information from the cell phone recovered with the body to help with identification.
