Damage to a 69-kilowatt transmission line affected electricity supplies in Puerto Plata province yesterday, Monday 28 March 2016, according to regional power distributor Edenorte. According to the company, the power failure was caused by a tree falling onto a high-voltage cable.
According to Edenorte, the accident occurred on the road between Playa Dorada and the Gregorio Luperon airport. The main areas affected were Sosua, Cabarete, Sabaneta de Yasica, Veragua, Jamao and Gaspar Hernandez.
Edenorte said the damage was significant but they were working to restore power as soon as possible.
