More cholera cases in Santiago

Dr. Ernesto Rodriguez, director of the Jose Maria Cabral and Baez Hospital in Santiago has confirmed that the number of cholera cases at the hospital has risen to 12 but denied reports that a woman had died of the disease.

He said that of 89 suspected cases in the Cibao region, 12 (seven men and five women) had tested positive.

He reported that the hospital responded to 70 emergencies over the Easter Week, mostly traffic accidents as well as shootings and stabbings. He added that there were fewer deaths compared to last Easter, with only three people dying this year.
