Dominican agro exports up 22% in three years

According to the executive director of the Center for Export and Investment (CEI-RD), Jean Alain Rodriguez, agricultural exports from the country jumped 22% between 2012 and 2015.

Rodriguez said that there were significant increases in the export of several agricultural products, including cucumbers (170%), organic bananas (115%) and mangoes (69%).

He said during the 2012-2015 period agro exports climbed from US$1.34 billion in 2012 to US$1.63 billion in 2015, or an average annual growth rate of 9%.

Rodriguez said the US$1.47 billion exported in 2013 was a substantial increase of 9.57% over 2012 and in 2014 agro exports totaled US$1.6 billion, which was a 7.64% jump compared to 2013.

In 2015 agro exports totaled US$1.63 billion, 2.91% higher than in 2014.
