The National Police has announced that agents attached to the Criminal Investigation Unit (DICRIM) have confiscated nine packages of what is thought to be marijuana, along with a substance believed to be crack cocaine, US$517 and RD$11,360 in cash, two motorcycles and a scooter during a raid on a known drug dealer in San Martin in the northeastern province of San Francisco de Macoris. Six men are now under arrest.
The alleged drug dealer, Carlos Ramirez Ortega Morel, also known as Carlito IA, aged 37 was being actively sought in connection with drug charges as well as for shooting a 17-year old youth on 2 March this year.
His sister, Rosanna Tejeda Morel was at home and was arrested along with a group of people operating a drug sales point outside the home. They were Julio Alexander Maria Almanzar, 27, Johnny Fernandez Marine, 30, Aneudy Caraballo de la Rosa, 25, Guillermo Antonio Rosa Garcia, 32, Kelvin Manuel Vasquez, 28, and Francis Antonio Reyes Polanco, 30.
Carlito IA is still being sought and the authorities are advising him to turn himself in.
