Dominican masters sailor Ari Barshi of Cabarete has made the cover of the spring issue of The Laser Sailor Magazine, the leading publication for laser class sailors around the world that was covering the recent Caribbean Laser Midwinter Regatta. Interestingly, though, the photo caption erroneously identifies him as Laser masters sailing legend, 11-time world champion Peter Seidenberg. In the feature, Seidenberg is quoted praising Cabarete: “Cabarete is everything that a sailor wishes for: dependable wind, huge waves, warm water and sunshine.”
In its story on the race and the ambience in Cabarete, the magazine writer Jerelyn Biehl describes the location as “laser sailor heaven”.
Meanwhile, for followers of the sailing career of Barshi, owner of the Laser Training Cabarete center, he is preparing for the World Laser Championships being held in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. His next race will be the Regatta Las Terrenas from 30 April to 2 May 2016 hosted by the Las Terrenas Sailing Club headed by Jan Salin. The event is run by the Dominican Sailing Federation under president Irina Perez.
