President Danilo Medina presented his government’s new initiative “The Digital Republic” at the Arena del Cibao in Santiago yesterday, Tuesday 5 April 2016. The project aims to provide around a million computers to students and teachers as well as installing broadband Internet in public places and Dominican homes. It will include the installation of more than 500 km of optic fiber cable.
The project also includes an Amazon-style website for the sale of Dominican products.
