According to the Dominican Telecommunications Institute (Indotel), 8.82 million mobile lines were in operation in the country in January 2016, compared with 8.79 million in December 2015. Of the total, 6.87 million were pre-paid lines and 1.95 million were post-paid. In terms of market share, Claro had 4.48 million lines (4.47 million in December), followed by Orange Dominicana/Altice with 3.59 million (3.58 million in December), Trilogy Dominicana at 428,461 (433,944 in December) and Tricom with 309,329 (314,687 in December).
The number of local fixed lines in operation remains unchanged at 1.15 million, of which Claro had 802,063 (800,129 in December), followed by Tricom 203,094 (206,174 in December), Trilogy Dominicana with 121,624 (120,308 in December), Skymax with 23,900 (21,600 in December) and Wind Telecom with 1,833 (1,967 in December). The number of Internet accounts totals 4.98 million (4.91 million in December), with Claro (2.48 million) and Orange Dominicana/Altice (2.26 million) accounting for the overwhelming majority.
The number of pay-TV subscribers (cable, IPTV, satellite, wireless) reached 684.815 (674,847 in December), of whom 325,246 subscribed to Claro and 129,140 to Tricom.
