The most recent opinion poll by Alfonso Cabrera & Asociados carried out between 8-10 April 2016 shows that President Danilo Medina of the ruling PLD would receive 50.1% of the vote compared to 42.9% for his leading rival, Luis Abinader of the PRM, followed by Guillermo Moreno with 4.5%, Minou Tavarez 1.2%, Pelegrin Castillo 0.8%, Hatuey de Camps 0.3%, Soraya Castillo and Juan Cohen with 0.1%. A total of 1,561 eligible voters were interviewed for the poll, with a margin of error of 2.48%.
