The United States ambassador in the Dominican Republic, James Brewster, visited the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (AMET) director Frener Bello Arias yesterday, Wednesday, 13 April 2016 to discuss issues related to highway safety, joint implementation of training programs, improvements in the traffic situation and measures for reducing traffic accident deaths.
El Nacional reports that the meeting also brought about “the reaffirmation of the friendship between the traffic police agency and the United States Embassy”.
During the meeting, Bello Arias outlined the measures that have been implemented by AMET in order to improve traffic flow in the central National District and reduce the numbers of traffic fatalities on the highways. Brewster told reporters that the United States government would assist the Dominican authorities whenever possible in order to continue improving road safety and reducing traffic fatalities and accidents.
