Haitian and Dominican Foreign Ministers resume talks

Dominican Foreign Minister Andres Navarro held a meeting with his Haitian counterpart, recently appointed Pierrot Deilenne, yesterday, Wednesday 13 April 2016, to announce the resumption of talks between both countries. Commenting on the overland import ban that Haiti has imposed on 23 Dominican products, Deilenne denied the existence of a ban. He said that “these products are still entering [Haiti], but by sea and they are making efforts to normalize the situation.”

The Haitian Foreign Minister said: “There is no ban and there has never been a ban.”

In turn, Navarro told Diario Libre reporters that there has been “a restriction on ground transportation of the 33 [sic] products”.
