The five Venezuelans who were caught with 359 kilos of cocaine at La Romana International airport over the Easter weekend have asked for their case to be moved.
Their lawyer, Valentin Medrano said that the judges in the eastern region would not be impartial and that a San Pedro de Macoris judge had rejected an appeal in record time accusing Judge Ismael Nehemias Ramirez of being tyrannical and wanting to change remand terms that did not even exist. He asked for the case against Venezuelans Luis Justiniano Nunez, 55, Jorge Henriquez, 44, Gregory Frias, 23, Gerardo Diaz, 38 and Jean Carlos Diaz, 35 to be sent to the National District or Santo Domingo province.
