The Dominican Republic has entered the Guinness Book of Records for making the largest mojito cocktail in the world.
In an event held at the 4 Jacks Bar in the Downtown entertainment area in Punta Cana on Saturday evening, 16 April 2016 it took one hour and 35 minutes to prepare the mojito, mixed in a glass that was 2.6 meters tall with around 600 liters of white rum, 1,200 liters of soda water, 250 kilograms of sugar, 50 kilograms of mint, 500 kilograms of lime and 2,300 kilograms of ice. The total volume of the drink was 4,000 liters, beating the previous record that was set in Spain.
More than 40 people were involved in making the drink and hundreds of people attended the event and enjoyed the mojito after it was accredited by Evelyn Carreras, the judge responsible for verifying its authenticity.
