Bauxite extraction and sales company Dovemco has announced that it will resume sales of the mineral once it concludes its negotiations with China, its main market. Company president Huascar Fernandez said that work was likely to resume in less than a month.
In a press release, Dovemco said that the reactivation of the aluminum plants would boost the economy of the remote southwestern border province of Pedernales. The operation was shut down when the market for the product declined.
Fernandez mentioned that the ongoing talks with China involved new contracts for some two million tons, pending state authorization.
