European Union to allow Dominican products

The European Union Health and Food Safety General Directorate has removed several Dominican products from a control list that had been banned from being imported into Europe because of pesticide residues. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the Dominican bitter melon (Cundeamor) and all eggplant varieties will now be allowed to enter the European market.

The European Union and its food safety agencies carry out quarterly examinations of the results of residual analysis. Two products produced in the Dominican Republic – bell peppers and long Chinese green beans – are still blacklisted for export to the European market.
