Robber vs. robber in Santo Domingo West

An alleged armed robber accidentally shot and killed his own accomplice after both men had stolen a motorcycle from a Haitian man. The body was abandoned on a street in Herrera in Santo Domingo West. According to the National Police, the dead man was Reyner Manuel Castillo Contreras, 33, who lived in the El Abanico de Herrera neighborhood, where the robbery took place.

According to witness statements collected by investigators at the scene, the deceased was coming up the Guido Gil Street with his accomplice, known only as “Bebe”, who is being sought by the police, when the Haitian victim started to shout that he had been robbed. At this moment, Bebe pulled out his weapon to shoot the Haitian but instead the bullet hit his accomplice Castillo Contreras, killing him.

In the aftermath of the incident, Bebe is said to have abandoned his partner’s body. The Haitian recovered his motorcycle and left the scene, and is also being sought by the police.

When the victim was investigated by the Police, he was found to have three previous arrests for several crimes. His body was sent to the National Forensic Pathology Institute for autopsy.
