Photo exhibition honors first Dominican in New York City

Dominican artists are paying homage to the historic memory of the first known Dominican immigrant to New York and New Jersey with an exhibition at the Dominican Civic Cultural Center at 619 W. 145th St. in New York City. Records show that Juancito Rodriguez arrived a year before the founding of New York City in 1613.

The exhibition launch was attended by commissioners Lucio Fernandez and Tilo Rivas, Dominican vice consul Angel Lewis Amaro and the director of the Dominican Civic Cultural Center Marilu Maria de Jesus Galvan.
