According to the National Police Anti-Noise Department, there has been a gradual reduction in complaints since the 911 Emergency System began cranking down on high noise levels.
Between 11 and 17 April 2016, nonetheless, the Police seized 467 speakers, in 282 raids. 157 were confiscated in Santo Domingo East, 124 in the National District, 71 in Santo Domingo North and 76 in Los Alcarrizos. The Police also says they have seized 88 vehicles for noise pollution in violation of Environmental Law.
