The Central Electoral Board (JCE) says that it is on schedule for the celebration of the 15 May 2016 general election. With 20 days to go for the election that will include the election of the President and Vice President, legislators and city government officials, the JCE says that it has already printed the ballots that will be used. The voters’ list is now closed and ready for the election. JCE president Roberto Rosario says that last week they received the 16,000 machines that will be used in the electronic vote count. Each will be installed in a voting station. The JCE has already shipped the electoral materials that will be used for voting abroad to the 731 overseas voting stations.
As reported in El Dia, in the 2016 election Dominicans will choose their candidates for 4,106 posts in 32 provinces and 158 municipalities. Of this total, 3,842 positions will be in municipal government, 262 at the legislative level, and the President and Vice President.
The JCE reports that around 80,000 will work at the 16,000 voting stations on election day.
