Six Dominicans return from Ecuador after earthquake

Six Dominicans who reportedly lost everything in the earthquake in Ecuador on Saturday, 16 April 2016 returned to Santo Domingo yesterday, Sunday 24 April 2016 on the plane the Dominican government had sent with 38 rescue specialists and six trained dogs to help with rescue and relief work in Ecuador. The ashes of Miguel Payano, the Dominican man who was killed in the earthquake were also on board. Minister of Foreign Relations Andres Navarro was at the airport to meet the Dominicans and the rescue crews. Navarro said they would receive humanitarian aid from the government. One of the returning families was from San Pedro de Macoris: Yoel Hidalgo de la Cruz of his wife and two daughters. They had been living in Manta, Ecuador and their house was destroyed in the earthquake. The other returnees were Jacqueline Concepcion de Oleo from the National District and Jose Odalis Beato Ortiz from Jarabacoa.
