The Ministry of Tourism and the EdeEste power distribution company started working on the underground installation of electricity and telephone cabling around the Parque Colon in the Colonial City last week. Workers have begun digging in the park area near the Arzobispo Merino and Isabel la Catolica streets, as reported in Diario Libre. The works are reportedly being funded by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), which has funded renovation works in the Colonial City. Diario Libre reports that the Colonial City renovation project director, architect Maribel Villalona was not available for comment.
