Central Electoral Board (JCE) president Roberto Rosario has denied that 884,000 voters have been excluded from the electoral roll as claimed by deputy and senatorial candidate for Santo Domingo Province for the Frente Amplio (FA) and the Movimiento Rebelde, Juan Hubieres. Hubieres is currently the deputy for the province of Monte Plata, but he is best known as the leader of the Fenatrano public transport cartel.
Hubieres said that the international company, Latinobarometro was auditing the electoral roll. The audit would be ready before 15 May and they would convene the parties to present any problems they had found with the list of voters.
Hubieres added that his technical team had found that a significant number of people had been left off the electoral roll throughout the country and would therefore not be able to vote on 15 May. He is claiming that 180,066 voters had been excluded in Santo Domingo Province and that this is the result of fraud to ensure that President Danilo Medina could be reelected.
