Presidential candidate Pelegrin Castillo’s driver was fatally wounded during a shooting last Friday, 22 April 2016 while trying to stop three men robbing a pedestrian, who also later died.
The National Police has arrested two men who admitted to taking part in the attack, while a third is still on the run.
According to the police report, Castillo’s driver, First Lieutenant Alcibiades Valdez Sanchez had also shot and injured the suspects in the incident that led to his death.
One of the suspects is 22-year old Frank Felix Ferrera Castillo who already has a record consisting of five other crimes. He was arrested in possession of a firearm in Villa Consuelo on Monday, 25 April 2016.
The second man, who was also arrested in Villa Consuelo, was named as 33-year old Carlos Manuel Rodriguez Herrera, and his pistol matched the casings found at the crime scene. The pistol had been stolen from Manuel Emilio Gonzalez Flores, who died last month after being shot during a robbery in which his gun was taken.
