National Commission for the Information and Knowledge Society (CNSIC) coordinator Mirna Gonzalez says that the percentage of Internet users in 2015 in the Dominican Republic was 53.5% and the target for 2020 is 70%. The percentage of households with Internet access was 23.6% in 2015 and the target that has been set for within four years is 36%. Last year 30% of households had personal computers, a figure expected to grow to 40% in 2020.
The Internet penetration rate was 39.92% in 2015 and is expected to growth to 50.80% by 2020. The fixed broadband rate was 6.79% last year, while the target for 2020 is 10%. In the same period, the mobile broadband rate was 41.79%, set to grow to 55% by 2020.
