The Central Electoral Board (JCE) announced on Friday, 6 May 2016, that in the event that problems arise on election day that could delay the vote count for more than 20 minutes, the electoral station can proceed with a manual count, starting with the presidential votes, followed by the municipal votes and finally, by the legislative votes.
The JCE established that should the problem be resolved while the manual count is in process, the station should complete the count of the level it is on and then verify it with the electronic count and other formalities.
The JCE announced that a manual count system would be carried out parallel to the new electronic vote count for the presidential election. The manual count system will rely on scanners to transmit the data.
The JCE also called a national holiday as of noon on Saturday 14 May through Sunday 15 May 2016.
