Former general and head of operations of the National Drug Control Agency (DNCD) Francisco Antonio Hiraldo Guerrero returned to Santo Domingo on Saturday, 7 May 2016. He was deported after serving a jail sentence in the United States. Hiraldo Guerrero was the DNCD head of operations from 2006 to 2008, at the time when former army colonel Quirino Ernesto Paulino was extradited for a 1,800kg drug haul. The former general was found guilty of complicity with drug traffickers. He arrived at 1:30am on board a Copa flight from New York to Panama and then to Santo Domingo’s Las Americas International Airport where he was met by relatives.
