The Hodelpa Hotel Group and Coral Hospitality Corporation hotel management groups have taken the beach town of Juan Dolio, about 40 minutes from both Santo Domingo or La Romana, under their development wings. The developers are now promoting Juan Dolio as a three-for-one destination to tourists staying at the beach resort that is close enough for them to enjoy the cultural, gastronomical and shopping opportunities of Santo Domingo to the west, as well as the golf, dining, and cultural attractions of La Romana to the east.
Juan Dolio is best served by the Las Americas International Airport or the La Romana International Airport. The Caribbean’s largest hub, the Punta Cana International Airport, is less than two hours away.
Hodelpa Hotel Group has been operating the renovated Emotions by Hodelpa (former Talanquera Resort) since November 2015, with 341 rooms and three swimming pools. The hotel features new-to-market amenities such as an interesting wet-feet dining experience, where diners can keep cool with their feet in the water. Also a first, the Pitahaya restaurant will be featuring a wide selection of organic food. The site also includes a cheese and wine bar with a selection from one of hotel’s largest wine cellars.
The hotel chain has also announced that construction has already started on its Sensations by Hodelpa, a deluxe all-inclusive, with 329 rooms from the renovated former Melia Juan Dolio. Plans are to open in October 2017.
Hodelpa’s incursion into destination Juan Dolio began when it took over the management of the former Embassy Suites, now the Hodelpa Garden Suites in January 2015. It continued with the opening of Emotions (former Talanquera) followed by Sensations (former Melia).
Meanwhile, Coral Hospitality Corporation has responded to Juan Dolio’s upgrading as a destination by announcing plans to invest US$10 million in the refurbishment of the 400-room Coral Costa Caribe all-inclusive hotel in time for the 2016-2017 winter season.
