According to the Mark Penn/Noticias SIN poll released by Mark Penn yesterday, Monday 9 May 2016, if the elections were held on the day of the poll, President Danilo Medina of the ruling PLD would win comfortably with 62% of the votes and Luis Abinader running for the PRM would receive 28%.
Looking back at how they voted in 2012, 63% voted for Medina compared to 27% for the main opposition candidate, Hipolito Mejia.
The same poll shows that Guillermo Moreno will be the second runner up with 2% of the votes. No other presidential candidate will obtain 1% of the vote. 5% of voters say they are still undecided.
For the poll 1,226 eligible voters were surveyed from 26-29 April 2016.
