The National Drug Control Agency (DNCD) has announced the capture of an alleged drug dealer who was on the run in connection with 619.51 kilos of cocaine known to have come from South America. The haul was confiscated after being found in a cave on a cattle ranch in the municipal district of Boca de Yuma in the eastern province of La Altagracia in October 2015.
44-year old Domingo Peralta (alias “El Mono”) was arrested in a Grand Cherokee Laredo jeep with a secret compartment for concealing drugs.
In a press release the DNCD said that Peralta was arrested at kilometer 10 on the Cumayasa-San Pedro de Macoris-La Romana road when he left the vehicle with a 34-year old woman and a 50-year old man who are also being held for further questioning.
The cocaine haul was made by the DNCD together with the Dominican Air Force, Armada and the Public Prosecution office in conjunction with the Department for National Intelligence (DNI). A Colombian, Esneider Chaparro Gonzalez, and Juan Santana were also arrested during the raid and charged in the same case.
