A Santo Domingo court has set the date of 4 July for sentencing the former officers found guilty of stealing 950 kilograms of cocaine that had been confiscated by the Police’s Central Anti Narcotics Division (DICAN).
The decision was made when the Appeals Court refused to hear the appeal as the prosecutors Maximo Antonio Diaz Ogando and Ramon Augusto Veras Castro who are also named in the case, have since been removed from their posts.
Also named in the case are the former director of Dican, ex colonel Carlos Fernandez Valerio, the former head of operations, Lieutenant Colonel Felix Humberto Paulino Lopez, former major Luciano Gomez Cabrera, former first lieutenant Barbaro Torres Beltran, former corporal Agapito Munoz Evangelista, former sergeants Pedro Almanzar Gonzalez and Antolin de los Santos Zabala and former privates Raydiris Garcia Miranda and Miguel Ogando Ogando, who is a cousin of the prosecutor, Maximo Diaz.
