The Emergency Operations Center (COE) has confirmed that 24 provinces are still under alert due to the prolonged rainfall affecting much of the country.
COE director Juan Manuel Mendez said that the worst flooding over the last 24 hours had occurred in Imbert, Puerto Plata province where 95 homes are underwater in Ceballos and Los Brujos, where the rivers broke their banks.
The following provinces are still under yellow alert: San Jose de Ocoa, Azua, Barahona, Monte Plata, Duarte (San Francisco de Macoris) and La Vega.
Rains and storms are expected to continue in Barahona, Hato Mayor, El Seibo, San Pedro de Macoris, Independencia, Bahoruco, San Juan de la Maguana, Elias Pina, Dajabon, Santiago Rodriguez, Santiago, Puerto Plata, Espaillat (Moca), Duarte (San Francisco de Macoris), Samana, Maria Trinidad Sanchez (Nagua), Sanchez Ramirez (Cotui), La Vega, Monsenor Nouel (Bonao), Azua, San Jose de Ocoa, San Cristobal, Monte Plata, La Romana and La Altagracia (Higuey).
