JCE will replace cedulas until Friday

The Central Electoral Board (JCE) has announced that it will issue duplicates of the new personal identity and voter registration ID (cedula) to anyone who had renewed the document and has lost it. The service will be available until 6pm on Friday 13 May 2016 free of charge. The JCE’s ID offices in the country and in the Dominican overseas communities will be open and will be providing this service as a way of guaranteeing that anyone who for any reason has lost their ID may acquire a replacement and so exercise their right to vote this Sunday, 15 May.

A memo that JCE president Roberto Rosario Marquez has sent out to all the ID offices states that the duplicates must be issued completely free of charge so that everyone who has lost their cedula after renewing it is able to vote.
