Public Health closes Roflos Laboratories

The Ministry of Public Health confirmed yesterday, Wednesday 11 May 2016 that they have ordered the “total and definitive” closure of Roflos Laboratories and the cancellation of the laboratory’s operation permit because of persistent violations of General Law of Health 42-01 and the regulations covering medications. The order is contained in resolution 01 dated 26 January 2016 issued through the Directorate General of Medications, Foods and Sanitary Products.

The violations incurred by this business, based in Santiago de los Caballeros are citations governing article 268 in articles 155 and 156 of Law 42 n 01.

According to a press release sent by the Ministry, the closure follows an investigation carried out in response to customer complaints.

Representatives of the Department of Health Supervision, accompanied by authorities of the Specialized Prosecutor for Health carried out a search and found out-of-date raw materials, medications without the health registry and medications registered under different names.

Article 268 of the regulation regarding Medications states that these irregularities within the pharmaceutical sector are said to be the preparation, manufacture, export, distribution, merchandising, prescriptions and issue of regulated products without being legally registered.
