Rains ensure water for Santo Domingo

Santo Domingo Water and Sewer Corporation (CAASD) director Alejandro Montas says that the recent rains, especially last week’s, have ensured that Greater Santo Domingo will have enough potable water supplies for the rest of the year. Montas says that the water level reached by the reservoirs is sufficient to supply the area with the country’s largest population.

Montas was speaking to Diario Libre reporters during an operation to distribute 10,000 prevention kits in 40 sectors for preventing diseases such as zika, chikungunya and dengue fever, all of which are transmitted by the Aedes Aegypti mosquito. The kits, which contain bottles of bleach and insecticide, are being distributed by brigades made up of CAASD staff members. The targeted neighborhoods include El Cuba, el Ochocientos, La Esperanza I and II, El Caliche, Villa Marina and the sector of los Rios.
