During the final game of the three-game series between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Texas Rangers yesterday, Sunday 15 May 2016, 35-year old Dominican Jose Bautista made a controversial slide into second baseman, 22-year old Rougned Odor, putting his team 6-3 ahead. As soon as Bautista got up from the bag, Rougned shoved him and after Bautista came back at him, Rougned swung a punch at Bautista and the video made the news.
This is the same Bautista who secured the spot for the Jays in the American League Championship Series last year with a three-run home run and then flipped his bat.
Adrian Beltre of the Texas Rangers had to restrain fellow Dominican Bautista to stop him from continuing the fight.
This was the last game of the series between Blue Jays and Rangers. The Jays had won the first game on Friday 5-0, and the Rangers the Saturday game 6-5. Odor is likely to face a lengthy suspension and a fine.
