Despite losing the flagship National District municipality, the ruling PLD and allies are leading by a wide margin in legislative and municipal elections nationwide. According to reports, the PLD will win at least 27 of 32 senate seats and at least 110 city halls.
Nevertheless, there are also reports of vote count disputes in the legislative and municipal elections for Santo Domingo East, Santo Domingo North, Pedro Brand, Boca Chica, Guayacanes, Puerto Plata, Sabana Grande de Boya (Monte Plata) and Bonao (Monsenor Nouel). Many of these cases involve opposition party candidates who could displace incumbent candidates.
At last minute, the JCE agreed that the manual vote count would prevail in cases of discrepancies with the electronic vote count, should this be available.
