The Moldeados Dominicano company has inaugurated a brand-new biomass-fueled boiler for drying its products and achieving a significant reduction in fuel consumption and gas emissions while saving on costs.
Company director Adan Celis Gonzalez said that the biomass-fueled boiler reduces environmental impact and represents a major contribution to the creation of jobs, both direct and indirect, in the community of La Victoria and surrounding areas in the municipality of Santo Domingo North.
The new facility cost approximately US$1 million and employs 120 people. As reported in El Nacional, the company produces eco-friendly packaging materials such as egg cartons, coasters and bottle holders from recycled scrap paper. It sources raw materials from homes, printing houses, banks, offices, refuse dumps and other areas and has been operating in the country for 15 years.
