The Center for Export and Investment of the Dominican Republic (CEI-RD) has announced that a Cuban business mission representing 33 companies will be visiting the country from 23-25 May 2016. The CEI-RD and the Cuban Chamber of Commerce are coordinating the event, the first of its kind. The CEI-RD has invited Dominican businesses to register to participate in the business rounds. The Cuba-DR dialogue will start on Monday, 23 May as of 9am with an opening workshop at the auditorium of the CEI-RD, followed by previously matched business-to-business meetings through Tuesday, 24 May. On Wednesday, the mission moves to the city of Santiago for another round of meetings.
CEI-RD says that the companies represent the industry, construction, farming, services, health, and pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors.
The Cuban government will provide information on the trade and investment opportunities in Cuba during the workshop.
The initiative is part of the bilateral agreements signed by the CEI-RD with the Cuba Chamber of Commerce and Pro Cuba last year, with the backing of the Caribbean Export agency of the European Union and the Embassy of Cuba in the Dominican Republic.
Dominican exports to Cuba were US$54 million in 2015, up 63.5% compared to the previous year.
