Diario Libre reports today, Friday 20 May 2016, that there will be several new young faces in the Chamber of Deputies when the new legislators take their seats this August.
Based on the Central Electoral Board (JCE) bulletins, it appears that Faride Raful of the PRM and Jose Laluz of the PLD will get seats for Circumscription 1 of the National District. They will be accompanied by Wellington Arnaud (Luis Abinader’s campaign director) and Karen Ricardo of the PLD.
Other young people include Jacqueline Ortiz, Mirian Cabral and Sandra Abinader for the PLD.
Diario Libre says that young politician Elizabeth Mateo Perez (of Toy Jarto) running for the PRM did not make it into the Congress for Circumscription No. 2, according to the latest counts. Former Chamber of Deputies president Alfredo Pacheco and Victor (Ito) Bisono, of the allied Social Christian Reformist Party (PRSC) did win seats for the party. Meanwhile, followers of young politician Arsenio Borges, also from the PRM, are optimistic that the final count will send him to the Chamber of Deputies.
For Circumscription No. 3, the PRM has favorites in Sergio Moya, Ramon Bueno and Jose Miguel Cabrera while the PLD hopes it will be Elpidio Baez, Yudelka de la Rosa, Juan Rodriguez, Gustavo Sanchez, Nicolas Concepcion and Mirna Tejeda.
Young people making their political debut in the province of Santo Domingo are Damaris Vasquez, sister of the PLD chairman in the municipality, and Lethi Vasquez who is in the lead in the preliminary count, while young politician Pedro Mota of the PLD will represent Santo Domingo North.
