David Collado to stop loud shows at amphitheater

The mayor-elect for the National District, David Collado says that one of the first measures he will implement upon taking office as mayor of the capital city will be to return the Nuryn Sanlley Amphitheater to the Ministry of Culture. The 2,700-seater amphitheater has been used for live shows by international performers. Local neighborhood groups have protested that the noise and traffic has considerably reduced their quality of life and the value of expensive high-rises in the La Esperilla area. The amphitheater is located in the Parque Iberoamericano, currently under the management of the city government.

Collado has said that his role is to be a manager and he will work closely with the neighborhood associations. In a conversation with journalist Nuria Piera he said that the amphitheater had been built for cultural events, not major concerts.

The new city government administration begins 16 August 2016.
