Minister of Foreign Relations Andres Navarro was in Taipei on Friday, 20 May 2016 for President Tsai Ing-Wen’s inauguration ceremony. He invited the new President to attend President Danilo Medina’s inauguration on 16 August 2016. “We bring a message of cordial friendship from our President, Danilo Medina and his resolve that the DR and Taiwan must continue to strengthen diplomatic and trade relations, as proof of the friendship that unites our people,” said Navarro, as reported by the Ministry of Foreign Relations.
