Nine days after the general election of 15 May 2016, the Central Electoral Board (JCE) has issued the voting results from 148 municipalities. (JCE) president Roberto Rosario says that the delays were caused because the votes had to been counted up to four times to verify the tallies in several cities. “Meaning that the delays are because many municipal boards have accepted the process, and the effort to please the candidates,” he said about the recounts. Rosario said he could not do anything about this, because the municipal electoral boards are independent.
As of Bulletin 12, the PLD will take 104 municipalities, while the PRM will take 27, the PRSC 13, and the BIS two, while the PRD, Frente Amplio, UDC, Alianza por la Democracia (APD) and MIUP will take one apiece.
