The Municipal Electoral Board Office in Hato Mayor has been set alight by persons unknown.
According to the police, the fire is thought to have started at around 12.45am yesterday, Monday 23 May 2016. The arsonists are suspected to have got in through the back door, before setting fire to the building using gasoline.
The blaze also affected the Civil Registry next door to the Electoral Board, but it did not affect the computer center or the area where the official documentation and ballot papers from the recent election were stored.
