The Galeria Nacional de Bellas Artes at the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Gazcue, Santo Domingo is presenting “Mi Psico-Expresionismo”, an exhibition by New York-based Dominican visual artist, Oscar Abreu. The exhibition has the backing of the Ministry of Culture and the Direccion General de Bellas Artes, the Galeria Nacional de Bellas Artes and the Centro Abreu.
In her opening remarks for the exhibition, which has around fifty works on display, National Gallery director Marianne de Tolentino highlighted the chromatic freedom and dramatic gestures in Oscar Abreu’s work, which achieve traditional harmony. The exhibition conveys his ideas, interpretations and conclusions on memory and human nature, she added. The exhibition will be open through June 2016.
