The National Drug Control Agency (DNCD) has confiscated 85 kg of heroin and cocaine at the Punta Cana International Airport and the Caucedo and Haina Multimodal ports.
Several people were arrested in connection with the finds including two Peruvians and a Dutch national.
In Caucedo the 50 packages of cocaine were found in a container bound for Europe on a ship that arrived from Panama. In Haina 22.9 kilos of cocaine were seized from a ship that had arrived from Colombia.
At the Punta Cana International Airport, two Peruvian women aged 35 and 40 were arrested on their arrival from Lima, with an undetermined amount of cocaine or liquid heroin impregnated into the clothes in their suitcases. Two men aged 35 and 26 who were waiting for the women were also arrested.
