Natural gas fuels 25% of electricity power in DR

Natural gas-fueled power plants make up 25% of the Dominican Republic’s electricity generating matrix. Statistics published by the Dominican Association of Electricity Industries (Adie) show that national power generation was 14,177.38 GWh in 2015, of which 2% was wind power and 6% hydroelectric power. The remaining 92% generated by thermoelectric plants were powered by fuel #6 (36%), natural gas (25%) fuel #2 (8%), and a combination of natural gas and fuel #8 (8%).
